Ice cream cake
Will’s birthday was July 3rd. He wanted an ice cream cake. We usually get our ice cream cakes from Baskin Robins, but they closed. So I looked at Pinterest and figured out how to make one.
I thought it turned out pretty good. All I had to do was borrow a spring form pan. I used two different kinds of Will’s favorite ice cream, crushed oreo cookies, cool whip, and reeses pieces on top.
Camp, camp, camp
I had quilt camp this week for these girls since their older siblings were at bible camp.
They finished their quilts in 6 hours over two days. I couldn’t believe how fast they were. I think it helped that we have sewn before.
I’ve been doing a quilt camp for these girls. It’s been a little harder coordinating schedules with these girls.
They made pillow cases. Next we will make pajama pants.
Ballet performance
My parents got to come and see Jemma in the ballet. My niece, Samantha, saw her first ballet. She liked the fabric on Jemma’s skirt, because she kept rubbing it.
Friends that have come to every ballet.
With Princess Aurora.
The white doublet is the last one I made. This is the only picture I got of it.
While everyone was away
I was home sewing for the ballet.
I made these doublets for two of the young male dancers.
I sewed the appliques on this tutu.
I remade this jacket from a previous ballet.
I put sleeves on the three doublets on the left. I made them for some other performance.
I didn’t sew all this the week everyone was gone, but I got a lot done.
This is where the dogs hung out while everyone was gone, under my sewing table about four feet in front of my sewing machine.
Work Camp
The first week in June, Bill, Justin, and Jemma went to Wichita KS, to participate in work camp.
Bill and Jemma were on the same team
They painted over the graffitti all over the city.
Justin was assigned to another group, but was also painting over graffitti.
Bill got to work with both of our kids.
Iron Chef Challenge
One of the last things I did with my class this year was an Iron Chef Challenge. I let them choose what they wanted to cook for a panel of four judges that they decided on.
They had 1 1/2 class period to get their food plated for the judges.
Some of them choose full meals such as sliders and fries, others choose to make bruschetta, soup and sandwich, or a chocolate cream cheese cupcake.
Some of them really enjoyed it and of course others didn’t.
The teachers that judged really enjoyed it. The winners got to choose a food reward. Most of them wanted krispie kreme donuts.
Party time
One of the things Will got for graduation was a photo book of the pics from Peter Pan, when he played Captain Hook. My sister made it for him. He really liked it.
Here’s his table from graduation. I didn’t get a picture of the food.
Ms. Robie his first grade teacher came for his party. She is a great teacher!
