Marching Ducks and the King

A week ago today, Jemma and I took off for Savannah, GA along with 3 other girl scouts and their moms.  Our first fun stop was the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN to watch the ducks march out of the fountain, down the red carpet, into the elevator and up to the roof to their night time location.  They have been doing this since 1940.  Here is a link if you want more info

We got there about 4:45.  I would recommend getting there before that so you can find a good place for viewing.  The whole thing only takes about 15 min.

We ate at Neely’s Barbque Restaurant that night.  They have a tv show on the Food Network called Down Home with the Neely’s.  I had barbque pork ribs, they were really good.

Sunday morning we visited Graceland, Elvis Presley’s home in Memphis.  The previous owners actually named it Graceland.  We took the tour as soon as it opened.  I’m glad we did because it got pretty busy after that.

This room has 350 yards of fabric pleated on the ceiling and walls!  I don’t even want to think about the expense or trying to keep it clean.

This is the famous jungle room.  It has green shag carpet on the ceiling.  Flash photography was frowned apon during this tour, so I’m not happy with how some of them turned out.

Pricsilla’s wedding dress and veil were on display.  It was an enjoyable tour, but don’t put it on your bucket list unless you are a super fan or just curious.  It was a little pricey.  Memphis is actually very pricey on hotel’s too.
