Trying not to panic

After consulting with Dr. Floyd last night at church and sharing pictures with him, he said to bring Jemma in to see him at 8:30 this morning.  Their pretty sure she doesn’t have chicken pox, but they don’t know what it is.  This picture is from this morning.

This picture is from 3/14/2012.  Dr. Floyd consulted with a pediatrician.  They took some blood, which Jemma was a trooper and didn’t need me to hold her hand.  But 10 min. later she just about passed out.  She hadn’t eaten anything yet.  She’s lost 4 pounds since Tues, she doesn’t feel like eating.  We also sent all the pictures I have taken and what date to the pediatrician, so he could forward them to a pediatric dermatologist.  Hopefully we will hear something soon.  They tossed around the possibility of measles.

We’ve kept her away from the boys and so far they have been fine.  Yes, all my kids have had all their immunizations.

We joke about me being a blogger and taking so many pictures, but I think it might come in handy since for some reason I have taken a picture of Jemma’s left elbow almost everyday.

We are praying for Jemma (and you and Bill too!). Let us know if we can help with anything.

  • Just got word from the doctor … they think that it is Erythema Multiforme which is a virus related to Herpes like the cold sores. Her body just went overboard on fighting the virus. She is not contagious but will be fighting this for about 4 weeks. He is going to put her on some meds that will help speed things up and ease some of the symptoms. Please continue the prayers that this is correct and that the blood work comes back consistent with this diagnosis. PLease pray for her comfort and that no scaring will occur. The doctor did warn against “googling” this topic as some photos could be extreme and graphic. As Jemma’s situation is not as extreme as some of the photos we have seen online.
