Quilts/Sewing

5 in all

image

I’ve finished 5 quilts since February 12th.

image

Three of them I only put the outside boarders on and quilted them.

This is one I did everything on.

I also made all of this on.

Now I need to concentrate on sewing for the ballet, except for making Will’s quilt for graduation.

More finished projects on snow days.

Bill got this light hung in the hallway on a recent snow day.  The light has been missing for probably 2 years.  I finally decided on one I liked.  I’d kind of forgot we hadn’t replaced it.

I got another quilt finished.  The woman I teach with pieced this one except for the outer boarders.  I just put the boarders on, quilted it, then put the binding on.

Snow day projects

The snow day this week I finished Jamie’s tshirt quilt.

This is the back.

Last weeks snow day I made this quilt.

This is the back.  I didn’t plan on making any extra quilts this spring, but sometimes you have to be a team player at a new job.

Special Guest Help

image

My mom was here to help with the last day of our sewing class for the girl scouts.

All the girls made a skirt, and got them finished.  I’m glad my mom was here to help out.  It would have taken another Saturday to finish.

This is Jemma’s skirt.  I was hopeing to get a picture of all the girls in their skirt, but they all got done at different times.

Ballet sewing had started

image

June 20th is the next performance by Jemma’s ballet studio.  They will be performing Sleeping Beauty.

Jemma will have 3 different costumes.

So far I’ve sewn petals and sequins on 5 pancake tutu’s.  I have one more to go.  I’m not sure what else Mrs. Lisa has planned for me to sew.

Teaching the girl scouts

image

Saturday I had 6 girls scouts at my house to teach them to see.  They are all making skirts with pockets.  Everyone got their shirts cut out today.  Next Saturday we’ll start sewing them together.

It was a great day to start since Will was gone to Winterfest and Justin was gone camping with the boy scouts.

Curtains

I have 2 windows in my classroom at school.  I finally got these curtains made over Christmas break.

Special blankets

image

When we were in Brazil and staying at Lar Belem, they had some really soft blankets that Justin feel in love with.  He comment several times about them.  That have me an idea for our kids for Christmas.  I got them blankets as close to the same as the ones in Brazil.  Yes, I spent a lot of time touching blankets at different stores.  I found the right blankets at Target.  I then embroidered their initial on them.  The boys have sat around the house wrapped in them.

Ideas from Pinterest

image

I saw this sweatshirt idea on pinterest and asked Jemma if she would like me to make her one and she did.  I cut the bottom off the sweatshirt and sewed on lace she picked out from Hobby Lobby.

image

I also covered this ironing board that Bill picked up at a garage sale.  I’m going to take it to school since we don’t have an ironing there.

image

I picked the fabric up at Hobby Lobby.  I used left over batting from quilts to go under the fabric.

More projects

I made these shirts for my niece and  nephew for Christmas.

I embroidered about 24 blankets for teenage girls from church for their retreat in November.

This shirt is for my niece for her birthday in January.
